Territorial Highway Marker Shields
Each of the Yukon's territorial highways has a road number, a name, and a design, as follows:
- No 1 - The Alaska Highway - Mountains with the sun (or moon?) above.
- No 2 - The Klondike Highway - A gold prospector.
- No 3 - The Haines Road - A mountain goat.
- No 4 - The Campbell Highway - An explorer in a canoe.
- No 5 - The Dempster Highway - A husky dog. According to one source: "Opened in 1979, the Dempster Highway is the only year-round public road in North America that crosses the Arctic Circle. From Dawson City, Yukon to Inuvik in the Northwest Territories, this gravel road runs for 450 miles (747km), through mountains and arctic tundra, past caribou and grizzly bears."
- No 6 - The Canol Road - A truck.
- No 10 - The Mayo Road - (no information regarding a design).
I don't know if this list is complete.
