Springdale, Utah

Location

In southwestern Utah, just outside the main part of Zion National Park.

Description

Springdale is a quiet, pleasant, peaceful little town, situated a very short distance from Zion National Park. While the town obviously caters for visitors to the park, it is most certainly not a touristy town in the derogatory sense.

Springdale has a small range of restaurants and accommodation, but as far as I know no chain restaurants or chain motels - factors which will count in its favour for some visitors and against it for others, depending on taste.

Because of its location near Zion, the fact that it is a pleasant town, and the absence of the chains, I would guess (and I must stress that this is only a guess) that accommodation is likely to be relatively expensive in Springdale, at least compared with normal budget motel rates. This may be an unfair judgement and in any case if you are visiting Zion then you would save the journey that would be involved if you stayed further away from the Park. I'm informed that rates for accommodation in Springdale tend to be lower in winter when there are less visitors to the Park.
