John Cletheroe's
USA and Canada Holiday Hints |
When we visited Logan on several separate occasions some years ago we found it a pleasant town. On revisiting it in the summer of 2000 we felt it had grown considerably and become rather too large and congested for our liking. We also felt that the signposting in the town was woefully inadequate compared with the normal American standard.
Major Jim Collins of the USAF, who hails from the Logan area, kindly sent me these suggestions for visitors to the town:
Drive up to the University. Directions are clearly marked on Main Street. At the top of the hill, there's a spectacular view of Cache Valley and the Wellsville Mountain Range, if the weather's good. Visibility on some days is upwards of 15-20 miles.
You may wish to drive over to Wellsville itself (about seven miles away) for some pictures of the mountains. This particular range was described in National Geographic Magazine as the steepest for its height of any range in the Rockies. Having been deer hunting in those mountains, I would certainly agree.
