Shops In The USA And Canada - Maps, Books And Road Atlases
Free official state highway maps are available from state welcome centres on Interstate highways, Chambers of Commerce, etc. Many states, for example California, also provide maps on their World Wide Web Internet sites which can be freely downloaded.
It's always worth asking at motel offices if they have a free map of the town available - most do. Yellow Pages also include town maps, if someone hasn't removed them.
The Rand McNally Road Atlas is also recommended (and very considerably less expensive in K-Mart or Wal-Mart than in a book shop).
Books published in the USA are often considerably less expensive if purchased there rather than in the UK. This particularly applies to books about computers.
