US191 from near West Yellowstone, Montana, north to Bozeman (on I-90) is worth the drive for its high mountain wilderness and Montana ranchlands. This highway passes through the Gallatin National Forest.Montana
I hope you will include "The Tail of the Dragon" in your scenic road webpage. It's US Highway 129, just south of Knoxville, Tennessee. The locals watch for big trucks that make the mistake of taking it, so they can stop the truck and lead it through to safety. This road is so winding that it should not be driven with camper in tow, much less a tractor trailer. It's a great motorcycle trail! There is more information on this web site: http://www.tailofthedragon.com (external link verified Mar-06).
One high road you might want to add to your list is the Mirror Lake Scenic Highway, Utah State Highway 150, that crosses over the Bald Mountain Summit in the Uinta mountains at 10,715 feet above sea level. This is definitely the highest paved road in Utah and is only open June through November, depending on snowfall. A $3 recreation fee is required for anyone who isn't just driving straight through. This road runs from just east of Heber City (east of Salt Lake City) initially in an easterly direction and later bends to the north. It crosses into Wyoming and becomes Wyoming State Highway 150. It joins I-80 at Evanston, Wyoming. In Utah the road passes through part of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and in Wyoming the Wasatch National Forest.Recommended by Freddy Weinberg of Vermont:
From Green River, Wyoming, Wyoming State Highway 530 to Utah State Highway 44 to US191 goes through Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, which has some extraordinary and beautiful scenery. Very unusual. For a varied round trip you could return to Rock Springs via US191. Utah State Highway 44 borders the Ashley National Forest.Utah | Wyoming
From Laramie, Wyoming, Wyoming State Highway 130 going west going over the Snowy Range Pass (10847 feet) through the Medicine Bow National Forest. Excellent high mountain vistas.Recommended by Freddy Weinberg of Vermont:
From Cody, Wyoming, take Wyoming State Highway 120 north. Then go west on Wyoming State Highway 296 over Dead Indian Summit (8060 feet) to US212, the Beartooth Highway. All of Wyoming State Highway 296 is spectacular. This highway would be in anyone's top 10 scenic roads. These highways pass through the Shoshone National Forest.Wyoming
