USA and Canada Holiday Hints

Safety Considerations for a US/Canadian Holiday - Forest Fires

During lengthy periods of hot, dry weather many of America's and Canada's forest lands are highly susceptible to forest fires. Warning notices indicating the current danger level are often seen.

Be sure to observe all precautions advised in these areas, especially with regard to campfires, disposal of cigarettes, etc.

In the event of a forest fire the only advice I can offer is to fully obey the directions of the authorities and emergency services.

For up-to-date detailed information on any currently active large wild fires, visit the National Interagency Fire Centre (external link verified Mar-02) or Wildland Fires Information (external link verified Aug-00).
