This is NOT the official Subway web site.
This page describes typical restaurants in the chain. Individual locations may differ.
Only a small sample of menu items are listed here.
Unless otherwise stated, prices exclude sales tax and are normal (not special offer) prices.
To avoid holding up the serving line, it is wise to decide on your options before starting to order. You have to make a lot of decisions! The Deli Terminology page may help visitors from other countries.
There is a single serving line, although at busy times there may be more than one person serving. Each server and customer move along the line from the customer's right to the customer's left.
Start by choosing whether you want a sub or other item such as a deli sandwich. For a sub you will be asked the size (six inch or footlong) and choice of type of bread.
The next choice is the type of meat and type of cheese (American or Swiss). Wait for these to be placed in the sub and then shuffle along the counter, moving left.
Next, say what salad fillings you want. You have as many or as few as you wish.
Your next decision is the choice of salad dressing, if any.
Lastly, decide on your choice of chips (potato crisps) and drink, if any.
If you are ordering several items, they are all prepared together (otherwise you would have to return to the start of the serving line). It may be easier for each person to state their preferences.
Make payment.
Most locations have a small number of tables but most customers seem to take their subs away to eat elsewhere. Subs are wrapped in plastic bags.
A six inch sub costs from about $2.50 to $3 and a foot long sub costs from about $4 to about $5, depending on your choice of meat. This price includes your choice of cheese, a large range of salad fillings and salad dressing. (Prices as at summer 1999.)
Two twelve-inch ham subs $8.85 including sales tax (Alpine, Texas, Apr-01)
Various deli sandwiches.
However, Subway offer all customers a free saver card. Collect the special stamps which are given with each purchase and when the card is full it can be exchanged for a free sub.
Value for money - very good, considering the very high quality and freshness of the product.
Cleanliness - consistently spotless. Servers take great care with hygiene.
Quality and speed of service - quality of service is always good, but because of the very slow nature of the serving process long waits are unfortunately very common.
