Fast Food Restaurants in the USA and Canada - Dairy Queen

Introduction

This is NOT the official Dairy Queen web site.

This page describes typical restaurants in the chain. Individual locations may differ.

Only a small sample of menu items are listed here.

Unless otherwise stated, prices exclude sales tax and are normal (not special offer) prices.

Area

Throughout the USA and Canada.

System

Fast food.

Multiple serving points at a counter.

Place order and make payment.

Drinks and ice cream items are prepared as you wait at the counter.

For hot food, collect a receipt with your order number.

Wait at the pickup counter or at your table for your order to be prepared and your order number to be announced.

All hot food is cooked to order.

You are always given a receipt for hot food.

Place your rubbish in the bin provided and leave the tray on top.

Some locations also have drive-throughs.

Breakfasts

Some locations offer breakfasts, especially in Canada. I can't remember seeing a DQ in the USA open for breakfasts.

Lunch And Dinner

Some locations only offer ice cream items and some of these do not have seating. Locations which offer hot meals almost always have seating.

Chicken Strip Basket (four pieces of fried chicken, a large portion of fries and two pieces of toast; quite sufficient for two people to share) $3.79 (summer 1997, USA); CDN$5.89 (summer 2000, Canada)

Chicken Sandwich (chicken in a bun) $2.49 (summer of 1997)

Ice Cream Cones

Medium ice cream cone about $1.35 including tax (Casa Grande, Arizona, Apr-01)

Dipped Cones

A large choice of other ice cream dessert items, including ice cream cakes

Blizzard (tub of ice cream with one of a large choice of fillings mixed in)

Milkshakes

Soft drinks

Coffee

Senior Discounts

None, as far as I know.

Opinion

Quality of food - good.

Value for money - somewhat variable.

Cleanliness - very variable; some small kiosk locations are not well maintained while some more modern locations are spotless.

Quality and speed of service - very variable.
