Fast Food Restaurants in the USA and Canada - Blake's LotaBurger

Introduction

This is NOT the official Blake's LotaBurger web site.

This page describes typical restaurants in the chain, based on a very small number of visits. Individual locations may differ.

Only a small sample of menu items are listed here.

Unless otherwise stated, prices exclude sales tax and are normal (not special offer) prices.

Area

Seventy-five locations, in New Mexico only.

System

Fast food.

Queue at the counter (normally there is one queue, sometimes there are multiple queues).

Place order and make payment. Receive receipt with order number.

Wait for at your table for food to be prepared and served. Collect when your order number is called out.

All hot food is cooked to order.

Place your rubbish in the bin provided and leave the tray on top.

I think most locations also have drive-throughs.

Breakfasts

I don't think this chain serves breakfasts.

Lunch And Dinner

Burgers.

ItsaBurger Combo (quarter pounder burger, fries and drink) $3.78 (Las Cruces, New Mexico, Apr-01)

LotaBurger (significantly bigger than an ItsaBurger - a big meal) $2.29 (Farmington, New Mexico, Apr-01)

Chicken sandwiches.

Chicken Tenders Combo (chicken in a basket) $4.49 (Las Cruces, New Mexico, Apr-01)

Small fries $1.09 (Farmington, New Mexico, Apr-01)

Milkshake $1.29 (Las Cruces, New Mexico, Apr-01)

Senior Discounts

None, as far as I know.

Opinion

The following comments are based on only a very small number of visits.

Quality of food - excellent - extremely high quality.

Value for money - rather more expensive than other chains but the extra quality probably justifies this.

Cleanliness - excellent.

Quality and speed of service - very good.

This chain should not be confused with the similarly-named Whataburger chain, which I have yet to try.

News

The following news story appeared in USA Today 10-Jul-03:
New Mexico's homegrown Blake's LotaBurger chain was sold to former US Playing Card Company executive Ronald Rule and his son Brian. A Blake's spokesperson confirmed the purchase. Blake's, founded in 1952 by Blake Chanslor, is a company based in Albuquerque with 75 restaurants and nearly 1000 employees.
