This page describes typical restaurants in the chain. Individual locations may differ.

Only a small sample of menu items are listed here.

Unless otherwise stated, prices exclude sales tax and are normal (not special offer) prices.

Area

Throughout the USA and Canada. My thanks to Michael Senchuk of Edmonton, Alberta for confirming that Arby's operates in Canada.

Arby's currently has more than 3000 locations.

System

Fast food.

Queue at the counter (normally there is one queue, sometimes there are multiple queues).

Place order and make payment.

Wait for food to be prepared and served.

Place your rubbish in the bin provided and leave the tray on top.

Most locations also have drive-throughs.

Breakfasts

Various biscuits and croissants. I suspect that breakfasts may only be available at some locations.

Opinion

Quality of food - consistently excellent.

Value for money - reasonable. Special offers can be excellent.

Cleanliness - consistently excellent.

Quality and speed of service - generally very good.

Trivia

The first Arby's restaurant opened in Boardman, Ohio on July 23, 1964. It only served roast beef sandwiches, potato chips and soft drinks.

There are several theories regarding the derivation of Arby's name:

Arby's founders were Forrest Raffel and his younger brother Leroy. The name is based on the initials for "Raffel Brothers". This seems to be the "official" theory.
The name is based on the initials for "Roast Beef".
Arby's was founded by two gentlemen whose combined initials were "R" and "B".
