The closest match I can find is Iles de la Madeleine, a fairly small island in the Atlantic, northeast of Prince Edward Island. This is marked on the 1998 edition of the Rand McNally Road Atlas but is not included in the index of the Encarta 97 World Atlas. On the Rand McNally only the French name is given. The plural name would imply that there is more than one island but the map only shows one. However, different parts of this island are marked with individual names such as Ile de L'est. The island is shown as being part of the Province of Québec and this is consistent with the entry on the USA Today weather page being listed within the Province of Québec section.
