US and Canadian Telephones Letters and Numbers Table

All US and Canadian telephones, whether dial or push button, are marked with both numbers and letters. Each digit except 1 and 0 has three or four letters associated with it.

Many organisations have toll-free 800, 877 and 888 numbers chosen so that their associated letters create words or phrases, so making the number easier to remember. For example Motel 6's number is 1-800-4-MOTEL6, or in digits 1-800-466-8356.

The following table indicates which letters are associated with each digit. No letters are associated with either 1 or 0, nor with the * or # symbols on push-button phones.
