Kings Canyon National Park, California
Location
On the western side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, some way south of Yosemite National Park and immediately to the north of Sequoia National Park.
By car, Kings Canyon National Park can only be accessed from the west.
Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Park are adjacent and administered as one unit. The entrance fee covers both parks.
Size
The area of Kings Canyon National Park alone, not including Sequoia National Park, is 722 square miles. For comparison, the English county of Buckinghamshire has an area of 725 square miles.
What to See and Do
Only one road goes into Kings Canyon National Park. As you approach the park this road affords an excellent view of the canyon from above and then later descends to run along the canyon floor itself.
Boyden Cavern is a commercial attraction offering cave tours, located just outside Kings Canyon National Park. Boyden Cavern is not operated by the National Park Service.
Winter Access
A number of the spur roads in Kings Canyon National Park are closed throughout the winter.
