Canadian Rockies National Parks - Introduction
Location
The Canadian Rockies National Parks, mostly located along the main range of the mountains north of the US border and straddling the British Columbia/Alberta border, are Banff National Park (Alberta), Glacier National Park (British Columbia), Jasper National Park (Alberta), Mount Revelstoke National Park (British Columbia), Kootenay National Park (British Columbia), Waterton Lakes National Park (Alberta) and Yoho National Park (British Columbia).
In addition, there are a number of Provincial Parks in the area, notably Mount Robson Provincial Park (British Columbia), plus various sections of the Rocky Mountain Forest Reserve (Alberta).
Banff, Jasper, Mount Robson, Kootenay and Yoho Parks, together with large parts of Rocky Mountain Forest Reserve, are adjacent and so form one huge area.
Glacier National Park in British Columbia is a completely separate area to the much larger park of the same name in Montana. The Montana park is adjacent to Waterton Lakes National Park in southwestern Alberta.
Glacier National Park (British Columbia) and Mount Revelstoke National Park are relatively small areas, located west of the main range.
