Acadia National Park, Maine
Introduction
I have not visited this park and therefore can only offer a very limited amount of information about it.
Location
On the coastline of Maine, southeast of Bangor.
Size
66 square miles. For comparison, the size of the Isle of Wight off the south coast of England is 147 square miles.
Entrance Fee And News
According to an article in USA Today 14-Mar-03, the entrance fees for Acadia National Park will be doubled from $10 to $20 for a seven day pass and from $20 to $40 for an annual pass, in order to finance the Island Explorer bus system. This is presumably a shuttle bus system for the park although the article did not include any details. A decision had yet to be made as to whether the increase will be phased over several years.
