Recently Created National Monuments And National Conservation Areas
Introduction
This page is intended to form a summary of the recently created National Monuments and National Conservation Areas, most of which are administered by the Bureau Of Land Management (BLM).
Most of these areas were created by the Clinton administration and are now sadly under threat of commercial exploitation for their natural resources under the George W Bush presidency.
Many of these areas have very limited visitor facilities. In some cases this is because facilities have not yet been constructed, in other cases it is because the areas are deliberately being conserved as wilderness with visitation discouraged.
