Golden Gate National Recreation Area, San Francisco Bay, California
Location
The Golden Gate National Recreation Area consists of several sections in and around San Francisco Bay.
Description
The various units which comprise the Golden Gate National Recreational Area include the island of Alcatraz, an area on the very tip of the southern peninsula and a larger area on the western (ocean) side of the tip of the northern Marin peninsula. This last area has some roadside viewpoints giving excellent views of the Golden Gate Bridge (see that page for details).
