Canyon De Chelly National Monument, Arizona

Location

Canyon De Chelly, pronounced shay-ee, is close to the town of Chinle in northeastern Arizona.

Description

The roads along the rim at the top of the canyon running northeast and southeast from Chinle are open to the public. Access to the canyon floor is only permitted with Navajo guides, in the form of hiking, horseback riding, four-wheel-drive vehicles, etc.
