Capulin Volcano National Monument, New Mexico

Location

Northeastern New Mexico, on US64/87 east of Raton, New Mexico.

What to See and Do

Drive up the fairly steep but well maintained paved road to the summit.

At the summit you can admire the views over the surrounding countryside, take the short fairly easy trail down inside the cone of the volcano, or the rather longer but flatter trail around the lip (provided it isn't too windy).

Entrance Fee

$5 per vehicle (Apr-01).
