Motel Chains in the USA and Canada - Discount Coupons For Motels

Booklets containing discount vouchers for motels can often be obtained from sources such as state welcomes centres and Chambers of Commerce in each town.

A series of publications called Exit Guides include numerous such coupons, together with a list of the motels, restaurants and gas stations at each exit of major Interstate highways. There's a separate booklet for each Interstate.

However, we've always found these coupons a bit of a waste of time. Firstly, they tend to be only for the more expensive motel chains. Secondly, they all include the inevitable phrase "cannot be combined with any other offer". This means that if you already use a Super 8 V.I.P. card, or are a senior citizen, these discount vouchers will offer you nothing. In the right circumstances they might be worthwhile though, especially if you are staying in the same area for several nights.
