The information on these web pages is intended for anyone planning to visit the USA or Canada, particularly (but by no means exclusively) a first time visitor from the UK.
The emphasis is on fly/drive holidays featuring the National Parks and similar scenic areas, with a mix of practical hints, recommendations regarding places to visit, motel and restaurant chains and other services.

A Land of Contrasts
Whatever North America is, it most certainly is not all the same. This vast land is full of enormous variety and contrasts:
- Arid, desolate deserts with endless sage brush and creosote bushes - and lush, humid rain forests with all possible types of vegetation.
- Arctic tundra - and sub-tropical swamps.
- Lofty mountains with alpine forests - and seemingly endless flat plains with their landscapes of wheat and grass.
- Extreme heat - and extreme cold.
- Modern cities - and ancient geological sites.
- Skyscrapers - and pre-Indian cliff dwellings.
- Huge crowded cities - and deserted wilderness areas.
- The expensive - and the economical.
- Superb highways - and dirt backroads.
- Gambling casinos - and National Parks.
Some Generalities
However, some things generally hold true throughout the USA and Canada, east, west, north and south:
- The feeling of space, both in the country and in the towns.
- The majestic and beautiful scenery.
- The almost universal highly convenient availability of high quality products and services at low prices.
- The generally positive attitudes of optimism, friendliness and a genuine pride in providing good service found in the people who you meet in the USA and Canada.
We can wholeheartedly recommend the USA and Canada as holiday destinations, no matter what type of holiday you prefer and no matter what lifestyle you wish to adopt.
