USA and Canada Holiday Hints

Insurance Considerations for Holidays in the USA and Canada

Be sure to take out adequate medical insurance. This is usually a condition of booking, although sometimes you are free to find your own insurance giving equivalent cover. It is well worth searching round for the best deal on insurance, particularly if you are a senior citizen.

The so-called "free" insurance deals available from some travel agents need to be carefully checked out.

The despicable practice of tour operators and travel agents making special offers for holidays conditional on taking out the company's insurance is due to be outlawed in Britain shortly, according to an announcement made on 19-Dec-97.

See also the Car Rental section for information on CDW/LDW and "top-up" insurance.

See also the Driving section if you will be driving a friend or relative's car.
