John Cletheroe's
USA and Canada Holiday Hints |
Driggs is highly recommended if you prefer somewhere quieter than Jackson, or if you can't find any budget accommodation in Jackson.
This part of Idaho is a rural farming area. Many of the farms in this region have long, low barns, the roofs of which are covered with earth. Tammie van Leerdam kindly sent me this note explaining their purposes:
John, those earth covered barns that you presume to be for potato storage are called potato cellars. And they are used to store potatoes through the winter.Idaho is of course famous for its potatoes.
The Teton Pass lies between Driggs and Jackson. This short but scenic pass presents no problems in summer, but might well be closed at times in winter.
