Help Please! Questions Which I'd Appreciate Receiving Answers To
Introduction
I would be extremely grateful for answers to any of the questions on this page. All responses included on this web site will be acknowledged (unless requested otherwise).
You can send me an email message using the "EMail me" link at the bottom of this page.
Canadian Highways #1
In one Canadian province, Ontario I think, each section of guards, rails or fencing at the side of a highway has a green and white diamond on a short post at each end. At one end the diamond is coloured green in its upper half and white in its lower half, at the other end the pattern is reversed. These markers seem a minor but unnecessary expense. Can anyone comment on why they are present?
Canadian Highways #2
A visitor to this site tells me that he has seen orange coloured cans on short posts at the side of Canadian highways and wonders what their purpose is. I can't remember seeing anything like this. Maybe they only appear in certain provinces. Would anyone care to comment?
Driveaway Cars
I occasionally receive questions from visitors to this site about driveaway cars, a subject of which I have no personal experience. Can anyone relate their experiences of the system, recommend any web sites which offer information, or supply the URL's of any driveaway car company web sites?
Music
If you know of any pieces of music which include the following state, province, territory and region names (or the names of places in these) in their titles or lyrics, I'd be very interested to add them to my Music section:
- Alberta
- British Columbia
- Connecticut
- Maine
- Manitoba
- New Brunswick
- New Hampshire
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- North Dakota
- Northwest Territories
- Nova Scotia
- Nunavut
- Ontario
- Oregon
- Prince Edward Island
- Québec
- Rhode Island
- Saskatchewan
- Vermont
- Washington State
- Wisconsin
- Yukon
By the way, I'm aware that Perry Como's "Delaware" includes awful puns on most US state names and that "Canadian Pacific" includes most Canadian province names.
Native American Place Names
Does anyone know of a web site which lists Native American place names (town names, etc) in the USA and Canada, with their original meanings? I have looked for such a site without success.

URL's Required - Winter Road Closures - Current Information
I haven't yet been able to find web sites offering current information on whether each of the following roads is closed for the winter or reopened for the summer. I would be most grateful for any information.
- Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah - Utah State Highway 148.
- Crater Lake National Park, Oregon - the road around the lake.
- Mount St Helens National Volcanic Monument, Washington State (I don't know if this road is subject to winter closure)
- Olympic National Park, Washington State (I don't know if the roads in this park are subject to winter closure)
Wendy's "Newspaper Advertisements" Tables
If anyone has a computer image of Wendy's old "newspaper advertisements" table top, I'd greatly appreciate a copy purely for personal nostalgia, not for publication anywhere.
A big "thank you" to anyone who can supply answers to any of the questions on this page! If I include your information on this web site then I will include a mention of your name unless you ask me not to. To avoid you being pestered or spammed I will NOT include your email address unless you specifically ask me to.
