Exotic Vegetation in the USA and Canada

Introduction

This page lists some forms of vegetation found in various parts of the USA and Canada, which are not found in northwestern Europe.

Many of the national parks, national monuments, state and provincial parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges and other scenic areas provide excellent opportunities for observing exotic vegetation. However, many examples can often be seen outside these special areas.

The leaflets and newspapers issued by the parks often give useful details of what special forms of vegetation can be sighted, and the best places for doing so.

The following are just a few examples of places where exotic vegetation can be sighted - there are of course many, many more.

The climate varies enormously between different parts of the USA and Canada. Most forms of exotic vegetation can only be found in certain regions.
