Crystal River, Florida

Location

Crystal River is on Florida's western (Gulf of Mexico) coast, some way north of Tampa/St Petersburg. It lies at the junction of US19 and Florida State Highway 44. Crystal River is the northernmost town on US19 before that road heads inland from the coast.

Description

When I last visited it some years ago Crystal River was a pleasant small town with a good range of facilities. Assuming that is still the case, then in my opinion Crystal River is by far the best town along this part of the coast.

There is a beach on the coast a couple of miles or so from the town.

Mike Leiner sent me an email highly recommending Cedar Key, a place I haven't visited myself. It is northwest of Crystal River.
