Recommended First Night Accommodation for Washington DC (Dulles Airport)

Although we wouldn't make any specific recommendations for first night accommodation for Washington DC, it is perhaps worth pointing out that Dulles Airport is right out in the country, and the road from the airport to the towns of Manassas and Manassas Park, where there are a number of motels and restaurants, is extremely easy for a first-time visitor.

The nearby Manassas National Battlefield Park is the site of the two civil war battles of Manassas, or Bull Run, and well worth a visit.

If you have a flight which lands before mid-afternoon then it is feasible to drive west the approximately fifty or sixty miles to Front Royal, at the northern end of Shenandoah National Park, where there are a number of motels including a Super 8.

Super 8, Front Royal - Rates excluding taxes One person Two persons Two persons two beds Three persons Four persons
1-Apr-97 to 30-Sep-97 $44.50 $50.50 $50.50 $55.50 $60.50

Motel rates are provided for general guidance purposes only and have been taken from motel chain directories. Current rates may be higher. Rates at weekends and during holidays and special events may be higher. Rates are in US Dollars and exclude taxes.

The above are only some ideas - there are of course a vast number of other possibilities.
