Recommended First Night Accommodation for Seattle, Washington State

Introductory Comments

The motel listed on this page, which we have used ourselves, is located in a pleasant area and therefore recommended for a first night stop. There are of course numerous other possibilities and this is only one suggestion.

We usually like to head out of the airport city as rapidly as possible on the morning after the flight so this motel is on the outskirts of the city. It would not be a particularly convenient base for visiting the city itself.

Motel 6, Issaquah

Issaquah is a modern and affluent suburb of Seattle northeast of Sea-Tac airport, on I-90. There are several supermarkets and restaurants near the Motel 6.

Although the Motel 6 is clearly visible from the Interstate, finding the entrance is slightly tricky.

The Motel is located north of the Interstate. There are a number of shops and restaurants to the south of the freeway, east of the motel.

It is possible to drive north from the motel alongside either side of Lake Sammamish and this provides a pleasant and scenic route to I-5 northbound to Canada. However, these backroads are only named, not numbered, so a good local map is vital. The detailed Seattle map on the back of the official Washington State Highway map is ideal for the purpose.
