Recommended First Night Accommodation for Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota

Introductory Comments

The motel listed on this page, which we have used ourselves, is located in a pleasant area and therefore recommended for a first night stop. There are of course numerous other possibilities and this is only one suggestion.

We usually like to head out of the airport city as rapidly as possible on the morning after the flight so this motel is some distance from the "Twin Cities". It would not be a particularly convenient base for visiting Minneapolis or St Paul themselves.

Super 8, Stillwater

Stillwater is northeast of the airport (follow the ring road anti-clockwise and then head east on Minnesota 36). This is a very easy drive. The very pleasant little town of Stillwater is on the scenic St Croix river, and has all the usual facilities such as a Wal-Mart and many restaurants. As you approach Stillwater from the west you drive along a typically American "fast food alley" (where the Super 8 is located) then down a hill into the old town by the river.
