Recommended First Night Accommodation for Los Angeles, California

Introductory Comments

The motels listed on this page, which we have used ourselves, are located in pleasant areas and therefore recommended for first night stops. There are of course numerous other possibilities and these are only suggestions.

We usually like to head out of the airport city as rapidly as possible on the morning after the flight so these motels are some considerable distance from the centre of the city. Therefore they would not be convenient bases for visiting the city itself.

These motels would be especially suitable if you are leaving Los Angeles on I-10 or I-15. If you are leaving in a different direction, for example on I-5 or up the Pacific Coast then they would be well out of your way.

Motel 6, San Dimas or Motel 6, Chino

Both San Dimas and Chino are pleasant towns some way from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), to the east of L.A.

There are a number of restaurants and shops close to each of these motels.

San Dimas - Rates excluding taxes One person Additional adult
23-May-97 to 17-Dec-97 $31.99 $6

Chino - Rates excluding taxes One person Additional adult
23-May-97 to 17-Dec-97 $32.99 $6

Super 8, Ontario Airport South

Ontario is a pleasant town some way from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), to the east of L.A.

There are a number of restaurants and shops close to this motel.

Other Comments

The area on Century Boulevard east of Los Angeles International Airport is run down and not recommended.

It is essential to have a map and a well prepared navigator before leaving the car rental depot and heading out onto the maze of the L.A. freeways.

Motel rates are provided for general guidance purposes only and have been taken from motel chain directories. Current rates may be higher. Rates at weekends and during holidays and special events may be higher. Rates are in US Dollars and exclude taxes.

The above are only some ideas - there are of course a vast number of other possibilities.
