In many parts of the USA and Canada there are relics and ruins of the various native cultures, thought to date back maybe ten thousand years or more. The Desert Southwest of the USA has thousands of such sites, one of the best known being the Anasazi cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde National Park.

Remember that Europeans discovered North America over five hundred years ago and plenty of history has happened since then! Preserved historical buildings of all sorts, from pioneer cabins to plantation mansions, can be visited all over the continent. Most of the National Parks have a number of such buildings.

People in the USA and Canada tend to take a very considerable interest in their history and treat it with great pride and respect. Therefore the facilities for visitors at historical sites tend to be excellent. Without doubt there are plenty of historical places to visit in the USA and Canada - enough for many, many holidays.
