FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions For Visitors To The USA And Canada - Is the East all built up?

No, the East is definitely not all built up - far from it. There are of course a number of large cities in the East, and generally there are more towns than in the West, but the vast majority of the land even in the East is rural.

Whereas the West has its vast areas of largely unoccupied public land, the country in the East is mainly farmland and forest, much of which includes some excellent scenery. While the East lacks the immensely high mountains of the West, it does have a major mountain chain in the Appalachian Mountains.

Many people would agree with our opinion that the scenic highlights of the East are the Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah National Park and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
