Major US Highways
Most of the traditional long distance US highways, including US66, have now been superseded by Interstates. However, some remain, including the following. I hope to add to this list in the future.
US2 - Seattle WA - Sault Ste Marie MI
US50 - Sacramento CA - Ocean City MD
Major Canadian National Highways
There is no national road numbering system in Canada.
The Trans-Canada Highway has various routes and road numbers. The southern route is numbered Highway 1 in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
The Yellowhead Highway forms the northern alternative of the Trans-Canada Highway in western provinces. It is numbered Highway 16 in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In British Columbia Highway 16 continues west to Prince George and Prince Rupert, while Highway 5 runs southwest to join Highway 1 at Kamloops.
In Ontario, Highway 401 is a controlled access divided highway between Windsor (near Detroit), through Toronto and along the north shore of Lake Ontario and the St Lawrence River to the border with the Province of Québec. This road continues through Montreal and then on northeastwards as Highway 40, the Autoroute De La Rive-Nord, to the city of Québec.
In the Province of Québec, Highway 20, the Jean-Lesage Autoroute, is a controlled access divided highway from Montreal to the southern shore of the St Lawrence opposite the city of Québec and then on to Rivière-du-Loup.
