Metrorail, The Washington DC Subway System
Introduction
The subway system in Washington DC is operated by WMATA (Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority).
The system is often just called "Metro".
Routes
All routes go via the centre of the city. All routes interconnect with each other, but not all at the same station. Some stations interconnect with Amtrak and/or with the MARC or Virginia Railway Express commuter rail systems. The Metrorail system serves Ronald Reagan (National) Airport but not Dulles Airport.
