Dams In The United States - The United States Army Corps Of Engineers (USACE) And The United States Bureau Of Reclamation

Description

The United States Army Corps Of Engineers (USACE) is responsible for the building and operating of many major civil engineering works, including many large dams and associated locks, and the Intracoastal Waterway. Some USACE facilities are open to the public.

Incidentally, the Corps Of Engineers also constructed the US Capitol Building, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the Panama Canal and the Alaska Highway.

The United States Bureau of Reclamation is responsible for many aspects of water resource management in the West, including numerous dams, hydroelectric schemes and water distribution systems. Some USBR facilities are open to the public.
