Mount Diablo, California
Introduction
I have not yet visited Mount Diablo. I am grateful to Michael Snoddy of San Jose, California, who provided most of the information on this page.
Location
Mount Diablo is located inland from San Francisco Bay, near the towns of Danville and Dublin, east of I-680.
Description
There is a road to the summit of Mount Diablo but it is reported as definitely not being suitable for those who are uneasy about driving on mountain roads.
According to a posting on the rec.travel.usa-canada news group in March 1998, Mount Diablo is an impressive isolated cone. From the peak on a good day it provides excellent views of San Francisco Bay, the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevadas.
