National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretative Centre, Baker City, Oregon

Location

Five miles east of the town of Baker City, Oregon. From Baker City, head north on I-84 to Exit 302, then head east on Oregon State Highway 86 and follow the signs. The museum is at the top of Flagstaff Hill.

What to See and Do

Visit the extremely interesting and well presented museum. It will take a couple of hours or so to tour all the exhibits, which give a very complete and detailed impression of life on the historic Oregon Trail.

Entrance Fee

There is now an entrance fee for this museum, but since it is administered by the Bureau of Land Management the National Park Service Golden Eagle Pass is accepted, although the standard National Parks Pass is probably not sufficient. I didn't manage to see what the entrance fee was when we visited in the summer of 1999 but it appeared to be on a per-person basis rather than the usual per-vehicle basis, perhaps $5 per person.
