Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

Location

The Okanagan Valley is in the southernmost part of British Columbia, very roughly halfway across east-west.

Description

A series of narrow lakes run north-south through the valley, with roads along the lake shores. The major towns are Kelowna and Penticton.

The Okanagan has numerous fruit orchards, but being well north the fruit is not ready until July rather than June as it is further south.

The Okanagan is perhaps rather over built-up, but pleasant enough. It enjoys a general milder climate than the rest of the interior of British Columbia.
