Sedona, Arizona
Location
South of Flagstaff. Arizona State Highway 89A between Flagstaff and Sedona passes through Oak Creek Canyon.
Description
The area surrounding the small town of Sedona is highly scenic and red rocks and cliffs are visible from the main street. Sedona itself though, in our opinion, is an unpleasant tourist town with the usual ghastly gift and art shops. Please remember that this is only our opinion.
An Alternative Description of Sedona
In response to this page Larry Keiser, who lives in Sedona, sent me an alternative description of his town, which I am pleased to reproduce here:
I am a Sedona, AZ resident. I've lived here for over eighteen years. It is much more than a typical rubber tomahawk tourist trap. Sedona has some of the finest art galleries in the southwestern United States. Sedona has some of the finest resorts in the United States, as well as some of the finest golf courses. It has nine movie screens playing top notch first run movies as well as an annual film festival. It has some of the finest restaurants in Arizona. It has an annual jazz festival with top jazz musicians from around the world. It is home to famous movie stars of present and past who do not want to live in a typical tourist trap.
