Painted Desert, Arizona
The Painted Desert is the name given to the area which stretches southeast from the Grand Canyon to the Petrified Forest National Park, in other words the plateau of the Little Colorado River. The rocks here are coloured, hence the name. The only major road through the area is US89, in the area around and to the north of Cameron.
