John Cletheroe's
USA and Canada Holiday Hints

Norwich Airport (Norwich International), Norfolk, England (NWI)

Description

Norwich's airport is extremely convenient for people living in the area, with its link to Amsterdam's Schiphol airport provided by KLM UK (previously called Air UK). KLM UK is connected with Northwest and KLM, by which means some very good deals on flights to North America via Amsterdam can be obtained. On 30-Sep-03 Air France announced a takeover/merger of KLM but according to reports the KLM name will remain in use for some years.

Norwich's little airport has the bare minimum of facilities for travellers but because check-in times are so short and the number of passengers so low they are adequate.

When approaching the airport by car follow signs to the passenger terminal, not the freight area. At the roundabout close to the airport take the second exit (the first exit leads to the Park and Ride car park, the third exit to a hotel). The entrance to the airport's car park is on the right after you pass the terminal.

Long term car parking at Norwich Airport is expensive.

Security

In my experience receipts for suitcases are never checked when leaving the baggage return area, allowing any passenger to easily take anyone else's property by accident or on purpose.
